And then the dallas cowboy cheerleaders showed up. |
Was wondering what the back of my head looked like? |
pale in comparison to the latino travelers and locals who seem well adapted while we tentatively get a base for protection! The sun is so intense here! Again 30 & 50 sunscreen applied daily and only out after after 2:pm at the earliest! Seen and heard a few Americans and Canadians the other day! Ah a language we understand! We are getting better at our Spanglish, LOL at least understanding a bit of what they are telling us! We met Roberto on the streets and he's now our fixer! He showed us 3 hotels and Steve picked the best one! For fitty buck a night we get the matrimonial room, right on the malecon, right on the ocean, and the beach is right there! Wifi, aircon, big screened windows, queensize bed, flat screen, and a fridge! Mui Bueno! Happy 20th anniversary to us! Montanita is a very busy little surf town having about 1,000 residents however the population explodes on weekends and holidays! Our room is located in a quiet beach spot, no bars! Yippee! Hard to find in this area, so needless to say Roberto is our new local besty! Thought we might stay a few days but because we love our space and surroundings we've decided to stay longer! Cody and Lindsay showed up and booked into a hotel with the same name (sister hotel "Tabuba") but down the street and off the beach! I ran into them in town and they checked out our place and quickly moved hotels! They have the top floor penthouse suite, however they have to share the big deck with all the other guests! They too love it here and are staying for three weeks! We decided to do the same so we are guaranteed a sweet spot for Easter! Just like home, it's a very busy holiday especially with the heavy catholic population!
Great beach walks with so much to look at! Haven't had good wifi so a fair bit of cybertime is spent on recon or research. Now we're finally catching up on our blog! Homework sucks! LOL! Out for dinner, Cody picked the spot tonight and we shared a pizza with a local twist, an added egg! No too bad, not sure if I would have it again but good to try the local fare! On the way home it seemed like a good idea for a tequila shot at a mini street bar! Back to the upper deck to watch the world float by! Super great ocean views! Whether it's people watching or listening to the waves crash we love our little casa! The deck always has a breeze. The great surf brings a lot of talented surfers here. The posers are out in full force too, on the malecon there's an oversized "I love Montanita" surfboard for the for the tourist selfie! So much to seecular stimuli! Beach dogs, some cats, and people appearing to be cool cats! LOL. The policia cruise the beach frequently in pickup trucks, quads, motorbikes, and bicycles which is great. There's a para sailing outfit operating in front of the hotel. At first we wondered about their safety level having witnessed a couple slip ups but as the days have gone by we have truly come to respect their skills! There were a couple of red flag days due to some big rips and watched the lifeguards in action! These guys are not big in size but quite strong in the water using only short fins and a hand buoy. We watched them work with the para sailing boat jockies and swiftly recover some people caught in the rip tides preventing drowning or pulled out to sea. Fast and proficient! Go team go!
