Hangin with Evelyn and her daughters!

Great to see the recycling in the Galapagos! Three cans everywhere, one for compost, one for plastics, and the last for garbage. Would love to see more of this at home. I know we have it for our homes but here it is set up on the streets for the tourista's and locals. Great program as they are inundated with thousands coming to the islands! They crush the glass and use it for making bricks and also mix it with cement when doing concrete work. Great use of recycling and the finished products sparkle with colour.

While hanging out on our shared deck one day I see the hostal owner, Leonela, showing her rooms to potential guests. I tell two separate groups that it's a nice, safe, and quiet place. Both parties stay. Always good to help tourists and business owners!  Leonela's english is great however I laughed at one of her comments saying that she is going to hide me as her new manager! Knowing full well she meant HIRE! LOL. She is fantastic and been very helpful! We wish her all the best for the business and raising her family of three kids! Busy gal she is!

One of the groups that checked in was a mom named Evelyn and her two beautiful and bright daughters!
We'd been hangin out on the upper deck all day working on our laptop with the best signal right outside their door. Not that we were looking in but we could see into the room through the large corner window. All those that know me understand when I help out offering a couple of clothes pegs to secure the curtains for privacy, unfortunately she had no idea of my intentions. Meanwhile Steve is saying leave it and mind my own business. Well having two daughters and wanting someone to do the same for them I persisted! Evelyn went and got one of her daughters who spoke English and then I showed her what I was suggesting. We all had a great laugh and that's what sparked our new friendship! With the help of her eldest daughter being our translator we ended up spending many hours on the deck getting to know one another! Her girls are 18 and 22.  The eldest living in Guayaquil with her dog studying computer programming and graphic design! The youngest will be doing  similar studies. Their family lives in Manchala, a few hours from Guayquil. Evelyn's family runs a big banana plantation where the family has all worked! Evelyn's a smart lady and later found out she's a lawyer. She spent a lot of time giving me Spanish lessons! I am so grateful for her knowledge and kindness! She reminded me so much of Steve's sister Teresa with similar cheekbones and mannerisms. I showed them pictures from our camera of the Okanagan, our family, and friends! We're now invited to visit them at their casa whenever returning to Ecuador.  If we did return it would be mostly to visit this family and the family from Manta.
